Thoughts to consider before buying Mannequins

There are several "deceptive" practices to watch out for when shopping for mannequins, whether on auction sites or individual mannequin websites. Auction descriptions often claim that a mannequin is "vintage" - but photos show that the mannequin is not in a retro-style pose, not painted a retro tone or makeup style... and new. Vintage and antique mannequins are not new, and are truly rare, compared to new ones. Do your research. If a mannequin is claimed to be rare or vintage, but you see three others like it in your search, it is likely neither.

Another ruse is pricing. A seller may claim a much higher ($2000-2500) "retail price" than it is actually charged. Quality, name-brand mannequins can be purchased for between $700 and $1100 new; don't bid more on a used or lesser-quality mannequin than you could pay new!

You may also find mannequins for as little as $100, new. These are likely of less quality materials... as with most items, you get what you pay for.
